ICELAND - THE LAND Of FIRE & ICE

Here's why Iceland is called the Land of Fire and Ice:

  • Volcanoes:

Iceland is situated on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, a volcanically active area, and is home to 33 active volcanoes, the highest number in Europe. These volcanoes occasionally erupt, showcasing the "fire" aspect of the island.

  • Glaciers:

Iceland also boasts extensive glaciers and ice fjords, representing the "ice" element of its nickname. Glaciers cover large areas of the country and are a prominent feature of the landscape.

  • Unique Landscape:

The interplay between volcanic activity and glacial formations creates stunning and contrasting scenery, including lava fields, hot springs, geysers, and ice formations.
