Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon - with mesmerising Icebergs & The Diamond Beach
Where the colossal Breiðamerkurjökull glacier surrenders to the Atlantic, Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach unfold as a surreal, ever-changing masterpiece of ancient ice and volcanic fire. In the lagoon, towering blue-tinted bergs broken from the retreating ice sheet drift lazily toward the sea, while playful seals bob between translucent sculptures thousands of years in the making. Just across the channel, the tide washes these glittering fragments back ashore onto Breiðamerkursandur, better known as Diamond Beach, where crystal-clear blocks of ice rest in striking contrast against pitch-black volcanic sand like giant, scattered gemstones.
